Old Strathcona, Edmonton’s beloved historic district, has recently undergone a remarkable transformation, adding a splash of color and comfort to its bustling streets. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the Old Strathcona Business Association (OSBA) and funding support from PrairiesCan, the completion of a two-year placemaking project has brought about the installation of over 50 pieces of vibrant street furniture, including five inviting parklets, across the district. These parklets, nestled along Whyte Avenue and 81st Avenue in West Ritchie, offer a fresh perspective on outdoor leisure and community gathering spaces.

What’s on Tonight
As the first-ever craft distillery in the Edmonton area, and only the second in all of Alberta, Rig Hand Distillery is used to blazing trails. Not only have they opened an extensive new property to work as a farm, distillery, restaurant, and tourist attraction, but one of their whiskies was the first Canadian whisky ever selected as the official spirit of Canada’s House of Commons.
