Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival Looks to its Community to Sustain Fringe Theatre
The Fringe is one of Edmonton’s most beloved annual festivals. The organizers are calling out to the Edmonton community for help.
“Today we are launching a movement to sustain Fringe Theatre,” says Executive Director Megan Dart. “Expenses are skyrocketing; funding is dwindling; and previously dependable revenues are not keeping pace with the cost of producing our event. This rapidly evolving challenge is threatening the very fabric of our Festival and others like it. Without immediate support, our Festival will be very different.”
“We believe in the transformative power of the arts and are committed to maintaining our impact,” continues Dart. “But to achieve that, we need our community now more than ever.”
The Fringe is asking everyone to donate, sponsor, or volunteer their time.
The Edmonton Queen is for sale!
The owners of the Edmonton Queen riverboat, the Edmonton Riverboat company, are selling the Queen.

A new cocktail store is now open
Cocktail Culture is a new Edmonton retail store that specializes in cocktail supplies for the home mixologist and the hospitality industry.
They also serve alcohol on premise and conduct special event classes for cocktail instruction. The Cocktail Classes are a chance to sample a variety of cocktails, learn about how to make them, and receive hands-on instruction on how to use cocktail-making tools like a pro.
Says owner Craig Nienaber: “In today’s economy, going out for high end drinks is expensive. Guests can apply the knowledge from a class to make their own professional quality cocktails at home for a fraction of the price of going out. Others find the evening to simply be a great date night!
Many of the people who attend the classes and begin mixing drinks at home, really enjoy the aspect of tapping into their creative side. Impressing guests is top of the list for many participants.”
