Whether you’re looking to go out or stay in, there’s lots to do and see in our region this weekend. Here’s what’s on in Edmonton!

1) Root 107 Pop-Up Park | Starts April 28
Enjoy a little slice of paradise right downtown! Relax on upcycled seating, enjoy a tasty meal from a rotating array of some of Edmonton’s best food trucks, and admire the work of local artists.

2) Work of Our Hands Spring Showcase | April 29–May 4
Book your spot ahead of time for this annual artisans’ market, featuring pottery, candles, soaps, gourmet condiments, and much more. Bring your own reusable shopping bag for the chance to win two handcrafted mugs!

3) Up Close with RAM: Mysteries Melting From the Ice | April 30
Join Diana Tirlea, Assistant Curator of Quaternary Environments at the Royal Alberta Museum, for a fascinating glimpse into how Alberta’s environment has changed over the last 6500 years, and how these changes have impacted both the landscape and human activity. Reserve your spot for this virtual talk through the Royal Alberta Museum website.

4) Canada in Jazz presents Kris Davis | April 30
In celebration of International Jazz Day, tune in to this virtual concert presented by the National Arts Centre and the Canada Council for the Arts. Kris Davis, the Jazz Journalists’ Association’s 2020 Composer and Pianist of the Year, will be performing live from the Jazz Gallery in New York City. 5) Bread and Circus with Firefly Theatre & Circus | April 30
Firefly Theatre and Get Cooking have teamed up to bring you a truly one-of-a-kind event: learn to make traditional French Fougasse Bread while enjoying a thrilling virtual circus performance with acts from around the world. Proceeds from the event go to support Firefly’s future programming. Your ticket includes access to the show and everything you need to make your bread, delivered right to your door.

6) Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair | April 30–May 2
The Royal Bison Craft & Art Fair is going virtual this year! Browse art, fashion accessories, home decor, and much more, all made by over 120 vendors from across Western Canada and the Western United States.

7) Masterpieces in Miniature Art Show | Starts May 1
Discover masterful miniature paintings at this invitational art show featuring over 45 artists from across North America. See a piece you like? Enter into the draw for the chance to purchase it for yourself! A portion of all proceeds will go to Wellspring Edmonton, a wellness centre for those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

8) Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames – May 1
It’s a classic Alberta face-off as the Oilers take on the Calgary Flames. Catch the action live on Saturday, May 1st at 8 pm. Don’t forget to purchase your 50/50 tickets on game day!

9) Persistence of Memory | May 3–8
Loss and resilience intertwine in this virtual performance from Edmonton Ballet, featuring a revival of 2018’s Last Words as well as two new works by Ballet Edmonton’s Artistic Director Wen Wei Wang and choreographer Karissa Barry. Purchase your tickets online.
