The Leduc Reservoir is a great spot for kayaking—just one of the many fun things to do in Leduc! Photo courtesy of the City of Leduc.

Only 10 minutes south of Edmonton, the city of Leduc is a great place to spend the day. With expansive parks, a thriving culture scene, and lots of shopping destinations, you’ll find plenty to do—more than enough for a return trip.

1) Discover Leduc’s Main Street
Leduc’s Main Street truly is the heart of the city, home to lots of local businesses offering everything from fashion to craft supplies to toys and gifts. Enjoy a patio lunch and take in the relaxing, small-town atmosphere. When safety guidelines allow, make sure to visit during one of Leduc’s many festivals and block parties, when the entire street becomes a celebration with live music, craft vendors, and fun activities for the whole family.

2) Kayak at the Leduc Reservoir
From the boat launch at Fred Johns Park, just off Black Gold Drive, head out onto the open water in your kayak or canoe. Explore secret ponds, watch the geese swim by (remember to keep your distance!), or simply enjoy a relaxing paddle around the perimeter of the reservoir. The reservoir also gets stocked with trout annually, making it a great place to squeeze in some fishing.

3) Take a glass art workshop at Under the Sun
This unique space is a gallery, gift shop, and workspace all in one, specializing in glass art and stained glass keepsakes. They offer workshops year round, including classes for complete beginners to glass art. Make something lovely for your home or to give away as a gift! Make sure to sign up for a workshop ahead of time through their website, as space is limited.

4) Walk or bike around Telford Lake
Located in the northwest corner of Leduc, Telford Lake is an important part of the local wildlife corridor and is home to a wide variety of species, including muskrats, red-winged blackbirds, and pelicans. The 8.2-kilometre trail around the lake, open to pedestrians and cyclists, takes you through meadows, forests, and farmland. Keep an eye out for the Stone Barn Garden, memorial signs for the 1975 Flight 3801 crash, and plenty of observation decks overlooking the water.

5) Shop at the Premium Outlet Collection
Located near the Edmonton International Airport, this mall features upscale brands like Coach, Burberry, and Michael Kors. There’s also a space for local vendors and an airy central food court. It’s the perfect place to treat yourself and wind down your day trip.
