This Mother’s Day, treat the special mom(s) in your life to a meal that’s every bit as wonderful as she is. New for this year, many of Edmonton’s best restaurants and caterers are bringing the gourmet experience to you with special take-out meal boxes and assemble-at-home kits. Whether it’s brunch, high tea, dinner, or sweet gifts that you’re looking for, there’s something for every mom.

Brunch

1) Fantasyland’s L2 Grill is stepping up the brunch game with their three-course take-out brunch, featuring options including Heirloom Tomato Caprese Salad, pistachio-and-herb-crusted free range Chicken, and Strawberry Mousse Layer Cake. Vegan options are available so that every mom can feel like a queen. Order by phone to pick up on Sunday, May 9th.

2) Enjoy a beautiful Mother’s Day brunch and support a great cause with Basically Babies’ Brunch-In-a-Box and online auction. Each kit contains brunch for four (including yogurt parfaits, Alberta Beef eggs Benedict, roasted vegetables, and a selection of desserts), a teacup bouquet centrepiece, and access to the Basically Babies online silent auction, where you can bid on a variety of items while helping to raise money for newborn children in need. Order online and pick up your brunch-in-a-box kit on Saturday, May 8th from 10 am–12 pm.

3) Waffles, frittatas, pancakes, eggs Benedict—whatever Mom wants for breakfast, you can pick up a gourmet take-home brunch kit from Century Hospitality Group to enjoy at home. For those who can’t choose, the Have It All package includes a little bit of everything. Orders must be placed by Friday, May 7th at 3 pm. 4) Thrive Catering Co. offers a ‘Reheat & Eat’ brunch, featuring a caramelized onion, spinach, and Gruyere quiche, Belgian waffles, herb-roasted baby potatoes, a summer berry salad, and a build-your-own mimosa kit for four. If you’ve got more mouths to feed, you can add extra servings to your meal. Order online by Monday, May 3rd for pickup or delivery on Saturday, May 8th from 12 pm–4 pm.

5) Newly open for the season, the University of Alberta Botanic Garden now offers Brunch Boxes to enhance your visit. Though their Mother’s Day boxes are already sold out, why not celebrate ahead of time with a Saturday visit to the garden? Each individual brunch box contains an assortment of sweet and savoury brunch items, along with a non-alcoholic drink. Admission to the gardens is included with every box purchase. High Tea

1) Have your own High Tea at home with a decidedly local flair with a curated Mother’s Day Gift Box from The Carrot Community Arts Coffee House. Their boxes include a Shirley Temple beverage kit, petit four sandwiches, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and more! Order online and pick yours up from The Carrot on Saturday, May 8th from 10 am–4 pm.

2) The Butternut Tree‘s takeaway High Tea includes a wealth of pastries, cookies, and sandwiches, and Canadian herbal teas to make for an unforgettable, luxurious teatime at home. Order online and pick up your packages on Sunday, May 9th from 10:30 am–2:30 pm.

3) For a simple yet elegant tea time, Dutch Delicious offers an afternoon tea kit for four, including cucumber sandwiches, pastries, and a box of Pickwick Tea. The box can be ordered online for pickup on May 7 or May 8.

4) Choose between takeaway Afternoon Tea, brunch, or dinner from the Fairmont Hotel Macdonald. While brunch and dinner are available for pickup on Sunday, May 9, you can order high tea for any day. Afternoon Tea includes traditional finger sandwiches, scones, and sweets, and you can even enhance the experience with champagne.

Dinner

1) For Mother’s Day Dinner, Beaumont style, Chartier offers a three-course takeout dinner for pickup on May 7th, 8th, and 9th. Their hot, ready-to-enjoy options include lobster arancini, beef bourguignon, stuffed zucchini canoe, and more, as well as a wide variety of mouthwatering desserts. For something more laid-back, but still extra special, pick up some bake-at-home cinnamon buns or a box of jam-infused artisanal chocolates. Chartier’s patio is also open, and reservations are available online for a Mother’s Day out on the town.

2) Treat Mom to a hearty gourmet Italian dinner with Mother’s Day takeout meals from the Santa Maria Goretti Centre. Each meal includes an appetizer, potatoes, vegetables, spaghetti amatriciana, chicken parmigiana, and dessert. Dietary restrictions can also be accommodated by request. Make sure to order yours by Friday, May 7th for pickup on Sunday, May 9th.

3) Whether you’re looking to treat Mom to brunch or dinner, RGE RD offers both all-inclusive and build-your-own meal packages. Their all-inclusive packages come with a meal for four, hand-tied flowers from Studio Bloom, and mimosas or wine from Hutch + Howl. RGE RD’s build-your-own packages allow you to choose between brunch, charcuterie, burgers, or a classic four-course dinner, and then add on everything from flowers to cocktail kits and more. Order online and pick up at the restaurant.

4) The 2-course Mother’s Day special from The Creperie includes soup or salad, your choice of savoury crepe, and (with each pickup order) a complimentary order of their croustilles au fromage. If you’re looking for a pacific recommendation, try the Crepe Seafood Americaine, which comes with scallops, shrimp, and monkfish. They also have a 2-course brunch available with your choice of main, including Eggs Benedict a la Creperie or the Cordon Bleu Omelette Crepe. Pickup and delivery options available for Sunday, May 9.

Sweet Gifts

1) Chocolate is a tried-and-true Mother’s Day Gift, and few know chocolate the way Sweet Lollapalooza does. 5) Here’s the perfect place to enjoy all those tasty goodies: The Edmonton Opera is back with their Mother’s Day Drive-In Opera! Pull into the Jubilee Theatre parking lot and tune in on your radio as the Edmonton Opera performs live from the roof. Two shows will run on Sunday, May 9th, one at 1 pm and one at 3 pm.
