Spring will soon be upon us, but let’s celebrate the tail end of winter with great events and happenings in and around Edmonton. From great symphonies to cabarets we’ve got you covered this weekend!

1. Edmonton Ski Club: Masters Smash! | March 1

Mark your calendar for March 1 and get ready to smash some gates in this fun night of racing. Timing, prizes, food, and more are included. Hurry up and get your spot secured. Space is limited!

2. James Keelaghan & Jez Lowe | March 1

James Keelaghan, one of Canada’s finest singer-songwriters, and Jez Lowe, the UK’s busiest folk and acoustic performer join forces for a special evening of artistic collaboration at The Arden.

3. Gershwin, By George! Rhapsody In Blue’s 100th | March 1-2

The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra performs Gershwin’s biggest hit, Rhapsody in Blue, to celebrate its landmark 100th birthday. Conductor William Eddins will guide audiences on a thrilling musical journey through Gershwin’s biggest contributions to popular culture.  Enjoy music from Crazy For You, Porgy and Bess, Girl Crazy, Funny Face, The Goldwyn Follies, and more.

4. The End is Nye! Bill Nye the Science Guy LIVE | March 2

Bill Nye the Science Guy is coming to Edmonton! Head to the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium for Bill Nye’s new LIVE stage show, “The End Is Nye”. Bill Nye will be discussing climate change, natural disasters, and how we, all of us, can make the world a better place with science! All delivered in the unique, hilarious, and fun way that only Bill Nye the Science Guy can. You don’t want to miss this!

5. Blue Halloo Comedy Cabaret | March 2

Blue Halloo is the wackiest, funnest, and premier show highlighting Edmonton’s women, nonbinary, and 2SLGBTQIA+ comedians and performers. It’s a riot (the good kind)!! They can’t wait to share what they have in store! Join them for laffs, guffaws, and chortles AND MORE March 2nd at 7 PM at the Grindstone Comedy Bistro!  Hosted by local comedy sweethearts Nathalie Feehan and Christine DeWitt. Content recommended for adult audiences.

6. Concordia Symphony Orchestra presents Rising Sun | March 3

CSO’s Winter program brings Sibelius’ expansive Symphony No. 7. In this work, the composer finds in the concept of totality (Gestalt) the path to his creation. The music of Sibelius 7 is a mature, emotionally packed 23-minute work that fuses the sectional symphonic form in one single movement.

7. Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF) presents 2024 OSCAR® Nominated Short Films | March 3-6 

Edmonton International Film Festival (EIFF)‘s annual OSCAR® Nominated Short Films Fundraiser returns to Edmonton’s Metro Cinema for three nights only, a unique and local opportunity to view all the short documentary, animation, and live films ahead of the 96th Academy Awards airing Sunday, March 10, 2024. All funds raised support EIFF programming during the annual Film Festival and year round.
