1) Sweet Treats and Latte Festival | Feb. 5-27

The Sweet Treats and Latte Festival kicks off this weekend in Edmonton. Seventeen coffee shops and bakeries around Whyte Avenue will feature hot drinks and sweet treats for you to indulge in. By buying one of these featured items, you will receive a limited-edition coffee sleeve or sticker designed by artists at the Old Strathcona Curio Studio (while supplies last). Share your photos with the hashtag #SweetTreatsYEG for a chance to win a gift card from one of the businesses.   • 2) All-Canadian Winter | Jan. 29-Mar. 13

  • February in Edmonton brings the cold, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have some fun! The University of Alberta Botanic Garden is hosting winter activities that your whole family can enjoy each weekend until mid-March. You can engage in some friendly competition by taking part in kicksledding, snowshoeing, hockey puck shoot, or snowball toss. You can also stroll through the garden for a winter walk, enjoy live music in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden, or try cabane à sucre (maple taffy). This weekend, join Métis geologist, Keith Diakiw, on the Talking Rock Snowshoe Tour. Here, you will wear a sash on your snowshoe journey into the Indigenous Garden and learn about Métis people in Canada. The experience will conclude with some hot tea and a warm fire. Tickets for this tour are separate from Garden admission.
  • 3) Black Futures Market | Feb. 5-6

  • The Black-Owned Market Edmonton (BOM YEG) aims to support, build, and connect Black-owned businesses, entrepreneurs, creatives, and the community. Support this two-day market in Edmonton this weekend that will feature over 15 Black-owned businesses at the Art Gallery of Alberta. There will be lots to explore, from handmade goods and artwork to other local items. Entrance to the market is free.
  • 4) Bridal Fantasy Edmonton | Feb. 6

  • Are you dreaming and planning for your big day? The Bridal Fantasy exhibition will bring you new and exciting experiences to help you imagine and create one of the best days of your life. This weekend at the Edmonton EXPO Centre, for one day only, scope out wedding photographers, wedding venues, makeup artists, and more — all the elements you may need to create a perfect day. There will also be Instagram-worthy zones, an in-person fashion show, and educational sessions throughout the day. The exhibition runs from 10-3 pm. Tickets are available online.
  • 5) Terry Barber Presents the Music of Freddie Mercury | Feb. 5

  • Join Terry Barber at The Arden Theatre this weekend at 7:30 pm as he performs some of Freddie Mercury’s greatest hits. This countertenor has an extraordinary vocal range that will bring the “wow” factor as you sit back and relive an iconic rock legend. Barber’s re-imagination of Freddie Mercury’s songs has been considered for 8 Grammy nominations. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office 1-hour before the show. The Restrictions Exemption Program will be in place for this performance.
  • 6) She Kills Monsters | Feb. 4-12

  • Kicking off this weekend at the Timms Centre for the Arts is an emotionally enticing, drama-comedy play by Qui Nguyen. Agnes is grieving the death of her sister, Tilly. She finds Tilly’s notebook that contains a Dungeons & Dragons game scenario. Join Agnes as she jumps into this fantasy role-playing game to learn more about her sister’s secrets. This play explores themes of friendship, sexuality, loss, and acceptance. Tickets are available online or at the box office that opens 1-hour before curtain.
  • 7) La Bohème by Edmonton Opera | Feb. 5-11

  • Join the Edmonton Opera this weekend at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium as they bring to life La Bohème, a Puccini four-act opera and work of art. This opera follows the lives of young artists in 19th century Paris as they struggle to search for connection and life’s meaning. Puccini’s pieces will be projected in English and sung in Italian. Catch this exciting opportunity to fall in love with Paris, all while sitting comfortably in your seat. The Saturday show starts at 7:30 pm.
