Edmonton Oilers Ford tailgate party | April 29

The Oilers faceoff against the Kings in Los Angeles this Saturday for Game 6 of the first round of the NHL playoffs. Want to experience all the action with other avid fans? Head down to the ICE District, where both the Scotiabank Playoff Plaza and the Ford Tailgate Party in the Fan Park will be open for fans 2 hours prior to puck drop. Make sure to get there early to secure your spot!

Hi-Light festival | April 28–30

Get ready for a weekend of music from Edmonton’s best local bands! Shining a spotlight on Edmonton’s local music scene, this festival will features shows at several Edmonton venues including the Starlite Room, the Buckingham and more. Make sure to check it out to discover some local gems.

Edmonton Rock N’ Gem SHow | April 28–30

Canada’s largest rock and gem company is taking over West Edmonton Mall this weekend. Featuring over 400 tables of crystals, minerals, jewelry, and more, this event has something for everyone!

Galaxyland Afterdark | April 28

Enjoy half price admission at Galaxyland powered by Hasbro tonight! This unique evening event will take place from 5:00pm–10:00pm. West Edmonton Mall and Hasbro recently teamed up to offer unique new experiences at this classic attraction, including rides featuring themes from your favourite Hasbro properties. Catch a ride on the Monopoly Railroad or take a spin on the Dizzy Doh-Dohs and enjoy a memorable evening with friends and family!

Canadian Independent Bookstore Day | April 29

Celebrate Edmonton’s indie booksellers this weekend! A special day dedicated to promoting and highlighting independent bookshops across Canada, CIBD is the perfect opportunity to support local businesses and promote Canada’s vibrant culture. Several local businesses will be offering special events and deals for this occasion. Head over to Glass Bookshop‘s new Ritchie location, where they’ll be offering discounted titles, free scoops from Kind Ice Cream, and a chance to win gift cards from other local businesses.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee | April 28–29

Wowing audience across the country, this charming and hilarious musical is on at Campus Saint-Jean this weekend. Following an eclectic group of six mid-pubescents, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is filled with heart as the teens spell their way through a series of increasingly complicated (and potentially made-up) words. Interspersed with touching personal narratives and hilarious stories from their home lives, this show is already a crowd favourite so catch it while you can!

International Astronomy Day | April 29

Celebrate the cosmos at TELUS World of Science – Edmonton this weekend! For International Astronomy Day, the science centre will be filled with several space-related activities including opportunities to witness Venus, Mars, and other amazing astronomical objects using telescopes from the RASC Observatory. Plus, opportunities to chat with and learn from professional astronomers and researchers about all things outer space!
