Get ready for another weekend in Edmonton filled with exciting events!

Earth Day Events

April 22 is Earth Day! Even though taking care of our planet is a 24/7 commitment, this special day allows us to reflect on our environmental impact. Attend one of these local events to learn more about how you can make a difference.

Make your own Braided Rag Rug

Join Alberta Craft Council as they breathe new life into recycled materials with this exciting workshop! Hosted by Sarah Janzen of Blenderz Garment Recyclers, this event will teach you how to complete a small oval rug using recycled fleece. All necessary materials will be provided. There are two time slots available, 11:00am–1:30pm or 2:00pm–4:30pm.

Earth Day with Future Energy Systems

Stop by the Strathcona branch of the Edmonton Public Library for some fun hands-on activities to celebrate our wonderful planet! These interactive opportunities will be presented by scientists from Future Energy Systems, a program from the University of Alberta that focuses on developing new energy technologies. Activities run from 12:30pm–2:30pm.

Earth Day Film Screening–Patagonia’s Mind Over Mountain

Element Outfitters is hosting a special screening of a brand new film from Patagonia. Mind Over Mountain follows three Canadian snow sliders as they navigate the treacherous trek from Bugaboos to Rogers Pass ski traverse. Shaky conditions are tempered by impactful moments with friends as these three women embark on a memorable and breathtaking journey. Enjoy this film with a pint from local brewery 88 Brewing! Proceeds will be donated to the Edmonton Chapter of Protect Our Winters Canada.

Earth Day Windermere clean up

Kickstart your spring cleaning with Current of Windermere. They’ll be accepting recyclables and eco station items in the Windermere Cineplex parking lot from 11:00am–2:00pm. In return, families will have a chance to spin to win a gift card from one of the businesses currently located in Current of Windermere. You will also receive a Red Spruce seedling to give back to our amazing planet.
