Whether you’re celebrating Lunar New Year, Valentine’s Day, Family Day, or just an extra day off, there’s plenty to do in and around Edmonton this long weekend.

1) Silver Skate Festival | starts Feb 13
Create your own winter experience with DIY winter-friendly experiences and challenges. See how fast you can skate Silver Skate’s traditional 1km race loop on the pond, explore the river valley, visit this year’s Heritage Village installation, and more.

2) Sweet Treats & Latte Festival | starts Feb 13
This new culinary festival in Old Strathcona highlights its amazing coffee shops and bakeries. Purchase a feature hot drink or sweet treat at one of the 13 different businesses—and vote for your favourites!

3) Ice on Whyte Sculpture Tour | starts Feb 13
Take yourself on a self-guided ice sculpture tour and stop in at one of their restaurant partners for a tasty treat. They have the ice sculpture locations on a Google map for easy navigation.

4) Valentine’s “Date Night Under the Stars” | Feb 13-14
Visit the University of Alberta Botanic Garden for this winter date night activity. Slip down an ice slide, post about your love on a tree sculpture, enjoy live music, warm up by a fire pit, stargaze, and more. You can also sign up for additional activities like guided Moonlight Snowshoeing or Indigenous Dark Skies Storytelling.

5) Deep Freeze Winter Fete | through Feb 14
This year’s festivities take place at Borden Park and seven Alberta Avenue district community leagues. Enjoy artistic panache, cultural stories, and virtual workshops, as well as DIY projects, ice sculptures, lanterns, and other art installations.

6) Edmonton Oilers hockey game | Feb 15
On Monday, the Oilers take on the Winnipeg Jets! Some Edmonton restaurants have game-day deals, and you can participate in the EOCF’s 50/50 raffle online.

7) Family Day Activities with the Edmonton Public Library | Feb 15
The Edmonton Public Library is hosting several online events for children, including Exploring Ocean Life, Shadow Puppet Folktales, Baking Cinnamon Banana Bread, and more.

8) Lunar New Year Activities | Feb 12–13, 16–19
The Chinatown Transformation Collaborative Society of Edmonton is running a series of events in Chinatown (#204, 10708-97 St.)), with respect to current health guidelines. They have a decorated photo booth, a God of Wealth, spring couplets, and more to celebrate the Year of the Ox! Plus, visit the CTC’s Instagram for available discounts from Chinatown businesses from Feb 13-27.
