If you’re looking for a spot to grab a unique drink, stop by The Phork where you’ll get a rather show stopping cocktail.

The Phork is currently the only restaurant in Edmonton to offer tableside flair bartending service, where bartenders entertain guests with techniques and tricks in the preparation of their alcoholic beverage.

Erick Rosende owns and teaches at Ultimate Bartending School in Edmonton, which provides training for bartenders. He teaches flair bartending as a regular part of the course for his students to practice at special events, but now he trains bartenders in specific tableside techniques so they can show off their skills to guests at The Phork.

“It provides an extra element of customer service,” Rosende explains, “and gives guests a unique experience when they come in for a drink.”

Some of the cocktail creations servers can prepare are a Flaming Cosmopolitan, Lemon Meringue Martini, Smoky Manhattan, and a French Martini. The cocktail list is updated monthly to give guests new varieties to try.

“Each bartender has a different style, so it’ll be a different show each time you order,” Rosende notes, adding that bartenders rotate through The Phork as they complete their training. “You might see the bartenders use flambé and brûlée techniques, or a layering or foaming method.”
