This Saturday, July 1 marks Canada’s 150th anniversary, and Edmontonians are throwing birthday bashes across the city. Check out festivals, art shows, and other events—including some free admissions—and celebrate Canada Day like never before!

City Events

Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature 7am – 9pm
Kick off Canada Day with a free pancake breakfast at the Alberta Legislature grounds! Witness a Citizenship Ceremony, which welcomes new citizens to Canada and highlights the rights and responsibilities of Canadian citizens. And then get ready to enjoy a full day of live music, street performers, exhibits, and food trucks!

Canada Day at City Hall 11am – 6pm
Celebrate Canada Day with the unveiling of the Canada 150 Mosaic Mural, a Pow Wow with Treaty No.6 dancers, Canada 150-themed photo booths, live entertainment, and more.

Festivals & Entertainment

Canada Day Family Street Festival & Canada 150in150 12pm – 10:30pm
Celebrate Canada 150 with free admission to the family-friendly festival in Ford Hall in Rogers Place. Enjoy live cultural performances, free giveaways, and a food market. The celebration finale (tickets required) features musical performances, including headliner Sarah McLaughlin!

Mill Woods Canada Day Celebration 1pm – 11pm
Enjoy live music, hay rides, a petting zoo, and carnival games! There will also be a fireworks display at 11pm.

Electro Nation Canada Day Music Festival 7:30pm – 11:45pm
This annual 18+ music festival celebrates Canada’s birthday with local and international DJs. This year’s line-up includes Danu5ik, DJ Jade Tang, Miss Tara, and more!

There’s something for everyone at the Telus World of Science’s Canada Day bash! Enjoy live, Canada-themed science demonstrations, a scavenger hunt, Canada 150 rocket launch, and more. It’s also the first day of their new exhibit: The Science Behind Pixar!

Canada Day Celebrations at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden 11am – 3pm
Celebrate Canada 150 with half-price admission to the Botanic Garden, which features live music, children’s activities, and birthday cake. 150 guests will also be chosen at random to receive a gift from the Garden!

St. Albert Canada Day 11am – 11pm
Enjoy live concerts, games, arts & crafts, inflatable bouncy castles, and food vendors! Don’t forget to stop by the St. Albert Botanic Park for strawberry tea and to let the kids plant a red petunia to honour Canada’s birthday. The fireworks display begins at 11pm at Mission Hill.

Spruce Grove Canada Day Celebration 9am – 11pm
