Celebrate our nation’s birthday at any of these great events! Enjoy pancake breakfasts, rock out to live music, get your face painted, and proudly wear your best red and white duds on Monday, July 1.

1. Canada Day at the Alberta Legislature Grounds | 10 am–7 pm
Tour the historic Legislature Building, which will be offering a rare opportunity allowing tourists a chance to walk on the Chamber floor, an honour otherwise reserved for Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. Once outside again, enjoy free family entertainment, musical and dance performances, and games for children.

2. Canada Day Fireworks Party | 7 pm
If you’re wanting to see the annual fireworks from a front row seat, you may want to check out this exclusive event! The Edmonton Riverboat will be boarding passengers at 7 pm on July 1, 2019. This fully licensed and catered watercraft will ensure you celebrate our nation’s birthday in style. Tickets are $199.95 and are recommended to be purchased in advance online.

3. Canada Day Road Race | 7 am
The early bird gets to race! The annual Canada Day Road Race is an excellent activity to start the day of celebration with. Beginning at 7 am, participants can either walk or run a choice of 15K or 2.5K, with all the proceeds going towards the Canadian Cancer Society. After the run or walk, enjoy a free pancake breakfast. 4. Canada Day Celebrations at the Garden | 11 am–3 pm
At this all-ages event, the whole family can enjoy live music, children’s activities, and a Canada Day cake amidst beautiful scenery—at the U of A Botanic Garden! Regular admission does apply.

5. Canada Day at the Conservatory | 11 am–3 pm
At the Muttart Conservatory you can expect to find music, crafts, planting activities, and treats! There will also be a feature show titled “Mother Earth” which can be enjoyed with the whole family. Regular admission does apply.

6. Spend Canada Day at the AGA | 11 am–5 pm
In celebration of Canada’s birthday, the Art Gallery of Alberta is offering free admission for the whole day. This would be a great opportunity to bring out the whole family and experience the latest exhibits, the Children’s gallery, and all kinds of art activities that will be scattered throughout the gallery.

7. Birthday Celebration at the Zoo | 11 am–4 pm
Canada’s birthday is shared with another—and this year the Edmonton Valley Zoo turns 60! Bring the family out for some live music, animal crafts, mini cupcakes, and some special birthday-related activities.

Celebrations in Surrounding Areas

St. Albert Canada Day | 11 am–11 pm
Celebrate decked out in red and white to commemorate Canada’s birthday! Start the day with a five-dollar pancake breakfast, enjoy live concert entertainment, a climbing wall, games, bouncy castles, colouring contests, and face painting. Finish the day off with a few later concerts beginning at 7 pm and a firework display at 11 pm.

Stony Plain Canada Day | 10 am–3 pm
In the town of Stony Plain, taking place in Heritage Park, there will be all sorts of celebrations for Canada Day such as street performances, a circus, show & shine car show, food trucks, kids’ activities, an artwalk, and a citizenship ceremony.

Sherwood Park Canada Day Parade | 10 am
Join in the excitement and fun as the parade winds through the heart of Sherwood Park, starting at Granada Blvd and ending at Gatewood Blvd. Delight in the costumes, horse-drawn carriages, and be proud to be Canadian! For the complete parade route and more information visit the website here.
