It’s the 25-year anniversary of the Whyte Avenue Art Walk! For years, hundreds of artists have taken to the streets of Old Strathcona as Whyte Avenue becomes a large, outdoor studio and gallery. Visitors have been able to enjoy a stroll down the avenue as they watch artists create their work right in front of them. And as most of the participating creatives don’t have work in local galleries, it’s a great opportunity to discover new artists with unique work.

This year’s festival looks a tad different due to social/physical distancing and health guidelines, but there are still many opportunities to check out local artists. The Whyte Avenue Art Walk runs until July 30, 2020.

1) Check out amazing window galleries!
Many businesses along Whyte Avenue have partnered with local artists to showcase their works in storefront windows. Stroll the streets and find a new treasure.

2) Discover new artworks and artists through Instagram.
The Art Walk’s official Instagram (@YegArtWalk) is featuring various artists and their works, and you can find even more by following hashtags like #YegArtWalk.

3) Take a mural tour through Old Strathcona.
The Paint Spot created this handy map last year to pin-point some stellar selfie spots.
