Happy August Long Weekend! Get ready for a weekend chock-full of festivals, theatre, arts, sports, comedy, and more–here’s what’s on in Edmonton this weekend!

1) Together We Fringe Live Telethon | July 30
Join the Edmonton Fringe Festival for their second annual LIVE Fringe Telethon, airing on Fringe TV starting at 2 pm. This telethon features live performances, event updates, artist interviews, and more, all in support of the future of Fringe!

2) Community Poster Printing | July 30
Stop by the SNAP Gallery Printshop between 3 pm and 7 pm to make your own hand-printed posters and postcards to take home! You can also check out SNAP Gallery’s newest exhibition, The Wish Machine.

3) Community Tour: ‘Black Every Day’ | July 30
Join Anna Edwards, the President of Cariwest Festival, for a virtual tour of the exhibition Black Every Day, curated by Darren W. Jordan. Get your tickets for this free event through the Art Gallery of Alberta website.

4) Mark McCue | July 30–31
Mark recently won the Grindstone Comedy Contest and has worked with many of Canada’s best comics. Catch him live at Yuk Yuk’s, inside Century Casino. You can get your tickets through Yuk Yuk’s website.

5) World Music Week | Until July 31
The Edmonton Heritage Festival is bringing you even more events celebrating humanity, diversity, and multiculturalism with World Music Week, an outdoor concert and performance series leading up to the start of the three-day Heritage Fest. Tickets must be purchased for entry.

6) Whyte Avenue Art Market – Final Weekend | July 30–August 1
Visit the historic Army & Navy building on Whyte Avenue for the final weekend of the 2021 Whyte Avenue Art Market! Explore a diverse selection of art, watch art being made, and purchase affordable, original pieces from local artists.

7) Pigeon Lake Music Festival | July 30–August 1
The Pigeon Lake Music Festival returns for its 4th year of music and community at Mulhurst Bay. This year’s lineup includes Said the Whale, Lucette, and headliner Jade Eagleson. Day and weekend passes are still available.

8) Gaze and Graze | July 31
Learn how to make the Instagram-worthy grazing box of your dreams with this workshop, set amidst the beautiful backdrop of the Farm Fresh Florals flower farm. The event includes a farm tour, food styling and photography workshops, delicious local food and Prosecco, and a collection of professional photographs of your experience.

9) Platinum Blonde Donation Concert | July 31
Canadian rock band Platinum Blonde is coming to the River Cree Resort & Casino for a concert to benefit the Mental Health Foundation and Enoch Cree Nation Mental Health. Get your tickets for as low as $5 per person!

10) Edmonton Heritage Festival | July 31–August 2
One of Edmonton’s biggest festivals of the year, Heritage Festival takes you on a world tour through food, dance, costumes, art, shopping, and more. You can get your FREE timed-entry passes through Eventbrite.

11) Sunee Dhaliwal | Until August 1
Sunee is one of the fastest rising stars on the Canadian comedy scene, having performed in comedy festivals such as Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival, the Halifax Comedy Festival and JFL Northwest. Catch him at the Comic Strip all this weekend!

12) AGA Sidewalk Cinema | Until August 2
The northwest exterior of the Art Gallery of Alberta has become a digital screen for catching bold, unique films created by students from MacEwan University and the University of Alberta. You can learn more about the films on the AGA website.

13) Edmonton Stingers Basketball: Edmonton vs. Saskatchewan | August 2
Catch the game online or at the court as the Stingers take on the Saskatchewan Rattlers at the Edmonton EXPO Centre! The game starts on Monday, August 2 at 7 pm.

14) Heaven | July 31–August 15
Citadel Theatre kicks off its return to live performances with Heaven, the story of a young Black schoolteacher whose promising new life in Alberta is threatened by secrets from her past. You can purchase your tickets through the Citadel Theatre website.

15) Rock’n August : 25 Years of Memories | On Now
As Rock’n August gets ready to roll back into St. Albert this August, you can step back in time and learn more about the 25-year history of the beloved car and music festival at the Musée Héritage Museum. Bring the whole family for this exciting, informative exhibition.
