Fight the January blues with Edmonton’s bustling arts & entertainment scene! Here’s what’s on this weekend.

Gaia | January 14–February 26

The Muttart Conservatory is launching their newest Feature Pyramid exhibit this weekend! Gaia, the work of Bristol based artist Luke Jerram, features breathtaking, three-dimensional NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface. Experience the world like never before, then explore the other vibrant Muttart pyramids, which features over 700 species of plants.

Hops On The Hill | January 13

Head down to Sunridge Ski Area for a night of tubing, live music, and craft beer. Local brewery Arcadia will be offering samples from 7:00pm–10pm and local folk-country singer songwriter Kaylin Kowalyshyn will be performing. This event is the perfect opportunity to get outside and enjoy the best of Edmonton’s winter season!

Alberta Council for Ukrainian Arts: Our Diaspora in Bloom | January 12–february 4

This weekend marks the opening of the newest art exhibit at the Alberta Council for Ukrainian Arts, which features art work from 25 different Ukrainian artists. Our Diaspora in Bloom highlights work from the estate collection of Ivan and Olena Stadnyk and is comprised of several Ukrainian immigrants who settled in Edmonton. Join them for opening night on January 12th, from 6:00–8:00pm

Jim Gaffigan | January 13 & 14

Laughter is the best medicine, so don’t miss out on seeing one of the world’s most famous comedians live at the Winspear! 3-time Emmy award-winning Jim Gaffigan is returning to Edmonton with his Dark Pale tour, which features all new material.

Ellen Doty | January 14

Ellen Doty will be filling the Arden Theatre with her soulful voice this weekend. Incorporating elements of jazz, soul, folk, and pop music into her work, Doty’s impactful voice and outstanding stage presence promises to provide an unforgettable night of music.

Lunar New YeAR Festival | January 14

Celebrate Lunar New Year with Kingsway Mall & the Chinese Graduates Association of Alberta! They will be offering tons of activities including painting, calligraphy, and other crafts. Once you complete 3 activities, you will receive a free piece of Lunar New Year Cake! Festivities kick off at 11:00am with a Lion Dance.
