What will you be celebrating this weekend?! From Pride and National Indigenous Month events to Father’s Day on Sunday, there’s plenty going on.

–Celebrate National Indigenous History Month

Edmonton Indigenous Peoples Festival | June 18
Join in the celebrations at West Edmonton Mall from 2–5:30 pm! Featuring Electric Religious, Kaeley Jade, Robin Cisek, Colton Bear, and the Anishnabe Powwow Dancers.

I.A.M Collective Celebrations at the Downtown Farmers’ Market | June 18–19
Head to the Edmonton Downtown Farmers’ Market for two days of free family fun and celebration, including 30+ Indigenous artists and vendors, free prize draws, live entertainment, and more. Free parking available. Everyone welcome!

Indigenous Dance Showcase by Dancing Cree | June 19
The Dancing Cree and their full roster of dancers, drummers, and singers are heading to the halls of Kingsway Mall. No tickets necessary!

“Empowering Our Youth” Live Concert Fundraiser | June 19
Not only is the door prize a pair of tickets to see Garth Brooks on June 24, you’ll also enjoy an Aboriginal Fashion Show, meet-and-greet with the Edmonton Elks football team, and performances by talents like world-renowned hoop dancer Dallas Arcand Jr. and Alberta’s Métis Country Queen Jennifer Winandy.

ᐁ ᐱᒥᐦᐋᔦᕁ ê-pimihâyahk (we are all flying together) | ongoing
ᐁ ᐱᒥᐦᐋᔦᕁ   ê-pimihâyahk  (we are all flying together) is a relational-based, collaborative project empowering & elevating the students of amiskwaciy Academy.  In the beginning stages of the project, the goal was to provide an Indigenous perspective on pimihâ (to fly). Every collaborative art piece is inspired by a moon cycle, entitled in nêhiyawêwin (the Cree language). This new art installation will be featured at the Alberta Aviation Museum for the next year.

–Celebrate Pride

Pride on 104th | June 18
While the Drag Brunch is sold out, you can still enjoy the Beer Gardens with selections from  Xhale Brewery, Sea Change Brewery, and Phillips Brewery, and cocktails from Hornitos Tequila! Admission to the beer gardens is free, but donations are being collected in support of the Chew Project and Briteline.

St. Albert Pride Festival | June 18
This free, all-ages event at Rotary Park is all about celebrating Pride in and around St. Albert! Programming for the stage includes a Drag Show (ft. Tugs Cuchina, Peridot & more), Krescent Dance (K-pop dance cover crew), Sharp Shoulders (musician, performer & visual artist), and so much more. There will also be food trucks, local vendors, an inflatable obstacle course, petting zoo, and (again) moooooore.

Pride Day at the AGA | June 18
Celebrate with art activities for all, giant colouring for the kids, music, drag performances and two film screenings—all included in the general admission. Movie screenings will be  Love Simon at 12:30pm in English, and Tomboy in French with English subtitles at 3pm.

–Celebrate Father’s Day

Evolution of the Fins | till June 19
Yesterday’s Auto Gallery is a museum gallery for classic and rare cars, and this weekend is all about the history of their rear fins. Come for milkshakes, hot dogs, cars from the Ken Rice collection of Custom Royals, and entertainment from Up!99.3 (Jun 18) and Harold Reichstein (Jun 19).

The Food Truck Event | June 19
The Food Trucks are returning to St. Albert Grain Elevator Park for Father’s Day. Treat your dad to a day of family fun—including traditional games, live music, and grain elevator tours—and enjoy a picnic lunch of all the best comfort foods. Scheduled trucks include El Mero Mero Taqueria, Meat Street Pies, Poutine World, Ukrainian House, and Winston’s Fish & Chips.

–Celebrate the Weekend

Dog City Festival & Talent Show | June 18
Enjoy great food and drink, shopping local dog vendors, live music, and fun activities with your best furry friend. Dog activities include a splash zone, obstacles, photo area, contests, games, and toys for all sizes. All dogs can join in the “Dog Bingo”, “Bobbing for Weiners,” and “Scooby Says” games for fun and great prizes. Plus check out one of the talent shows (1 pm or 3 pm) to see who is crowned Best Trick, Best Dressed, Best Dancer, Most Unique, and more! Tickets required.

Edmonton Filipino Fiesta | June 18–19
Admission is free for this annual event in Borden Park, which will feature two days of entertainment, crafts, vendors, and—of course—all the food. The Family Zone will have a face-painting booth, lawn games, a bouncy castle, and more!

75th Anniversary of Leduc No. 1 | June 18
This full-on family event is ready to celebrate all things history and all things local! Come for food trucks, local vendors, the premiere of the exciting new documentary, and more family fun.
