Celebrate women’s past, present, and future contributions to the aviation industry this weekend.

1) Soaring Opportunities: Celebrating Women’s Contributions in Aviation | March 13
In celebration of Women of Aviation Worldwide Week and International Women’s Day, Edmonton’s Alberta Aviation Museum is partnering with STEM Sisters and Elevate Aviation to bring communities together online for an event about women in aviation. This FREE event features a short history of women in aviation, panel discussion, and more. Register online for free.

2) SkirtsAfire Festival | till March 14
This annual Edmonton festival features the work of women in the arts, and this year’s lineup includes both online and outdoor options. Stroll through Old Strathcona to view displays for the Skirt Design Competition—there are six of them and you can vote on your favourite—and check out the online performance of Body of Words, a collaboration between SkirtsAfire and Ballet Edmonton.

3) Eats on 118 Ave | till March 31
For the month of March, you can enjoy dine-in special and take-out specials at various spots along Alberta Avenue (118 Ave.). Special menus include jerk chicken from Flava Cafe, green onions cakes from Green Onion Cake Man, cheddar bannock donair from Tee Pee Treats Indigenous Cuisine, and more. 4) Date Night Under the Stars | every Thu–Sun
Visit the University of Alberta Botanic Garden for this winter date night activity. Enjoy live music, warm up by a fire pit, stargaze, and more. You can also sign up for additional activities like guided Moonlight Snowshoeing, Indigenous Dark Skies Storytelling, and/or Northern Light Tapas with delicious gourmet savouries and sweets. This weekend, Date Night Under the Stars is donating 10% of admission in support of UAlberta Pride Week.

5) Virtual Pride Week | till March 13
These final days of UAlberta’s Pride Week include The Black Perspective: An Open Panel Discussion on 2SLGBTQ+ Matters in the Black Community, the Pride Drive Tour, and an open mic showcase.

6) Sweet Treats & Latte Festival | till March 14
This new culinary festival in Old Strathcona highlights its amazing coffee shops and bakeries. Purchase a feature hot drink or sweet treat at one of the 13 different businesses—and vote for your favourites!

7) Edmonton Opera’s Drive-in Concert | March 13
This drive-in concert takes place on the roof of the Jube and is broadcasted to your car’s FM radio! Come listen to special performances from Edmonton Opera’s Emerging Artists Studio.
