Magic of Lights offers a visual car-side experience unlike no other.

Santa’s visit to Edmonton is growing closer by the day, but we still have time to enjoy all that the season has to offer before he comes down the chimney! Customize this holiday weekend with everything from markets to unique online experiences. Support local, stay kind, and make this season look just how you want it.

1) Final weekend of the Edmonton Christmas Market
Holiday shopping is hard enough without the pressure of finding gifts for someone you may not have seen in a while! The Edmonton Christmas Market has got you covered, with gifts that complement even the pickiest of loved ones. From the nerdy to the die-hard spa lover, you’ve got all your bases sorted. Our recommendation? Bring a bag and a love for local products. You will find what you need among these caring vendors!

2) Luminaria | nightly until Dec 25
They say that beautiful sights are among the best ways to get you out of a funk. We may miss the normal sights and sounds of the city, but the experience of Luminaria reflects what we have come to know and love about city life in YEG. Luminaria offers the tranquillity of their regular experience, from lighted pathways in the Kurimoto Japanese Garden to the apple ciders served with care. There’s no limit to the love and lights of this 360 visual experience.

3) Winter Wonder Forest | nightly until Jan 3
From the comfort of your cars, you can indulge in the Winter Wonder Forest’s collaboration with True Start Foundation alongside help from Snow Valley. Experience over 115,000 square feet of campground turned Christmas Wonderland, featuring dazzling holiday displays in a socially distanced space.

4) Magic of Lights | dates available through Jan 2
Rev up the engine to cruise down this display of pure holiday cheer. Magic of Lights features more than one million LED lights in its annual celebration of the season. Experience themed and animated light displays, before a more than a 200-foot light tunnel for you and your family to coast down. Christmas radio has never been more appreciated!

5) Final weekend of the I.A.M Collective Online Holiday Market
Support local Indigenous creators this weekend with the IAM Collective Online Holiday Market: dedicated to creating a platform for makers, artists, and entrepreneurs. The I.A.M Market provides the chance to support the craft makers in YEG directly, with products ranging from decadent body products to earrings perfect for the picky fashionista. Feel good this holiday season, as you contribute to the effort of highlighting local Indigenous creativity.

6) Zoominescence | Thursdays through Sundays until Jan 3
We’ve all missed the Edmonton Valley Zoo, with its fix of creatures and critters to sate our adventurous minds. Zoominescence offers an alternate experience this year, still capturing the excitement and enthusiasm of meeting your favourite animal for the first time! Grab a hot chocolate and stroll around your favourite childhood haunt, taking in the carefully made and lovingly presented light sculptures

Did we forget your favourite winter happenings? Take a look at last weekend’s events for inspiration to carry you through the rest of the holiday season. For more events and gifts to make your holiday experience last, read the online version of our WISH Where Book 2020.
