From soulful rhythms to sweet treats on Whyte Avenue we’ve got you covered this weekend with great events happening in and around Edmonton! 

1. Souls in Rhythm  | Feb. 23 

Smooth, soulful grooves, melody lines that stay in your head and polished vocals, those are the words used by Canadian Musician Magazine to describe Souls in Rhythm (a.k.a. SiR). Catch them this weekend at the Maclab Centre for the Performing Arts. 

2. Warrant & Quiet Riot | Feb. 23

Head to River Cree Resort and Casino to rock out to the quintessential American rock band Warrant as they take the stage with Quiet Riot. Sing along to well known favourite songs with friends. 

3. Canadian Birkie Ski Festival | until Feb. 24 

This is the last weekend to enjoy the Canadian Birkie Ski Festival. Formed in 1985, the Birkie continues the tradition of honouring perseverance, courage and fortitude as well as lots of Nordic Fun for the whole family!

4. The Musée Héritage Museum Presents “first Languages” | Until Feb. 24

The Musée Héritage Museum (part of the Arts and Heritage Foundation of St. Albert) is pleased to present its latest exhibition that showcases the original oral nature of Indigenous languages, and the challenges of also transitioning them to written form. First Languages features two travelling presentations from the Canadian Language Museum, Beyond Words: Dictionaries and Indigenous Languages and Cree: The People’s Language. 

5. Ice Cube: Straight Into Canada Tour  | Feb. 24 

Award-winning musician and actor Ice-Cube is performing this weekend at the River Cree Resort and Casino. Don’t miss out on your chance to dance and sing-along to this titan of hip-hop. 

6. Life’s Sweeter in Old Strathcona | until Feb. 25 

Head to Whyte Avenue for Old Strathcona’s  fourth annual Sweet Treats and Latte Festival. With over twenty participating businesses, Edmontonians will enjoy the best sweet snacks and sips that District Whyte has to offer!

7. Stern Conducts Music of Courage and Resistance  | Feb. 24-25

Conductor Micheal Stern brings to life music by classical music’s great composers such as Haydn, Sibelius, and more this weekend at the Winspear Centre.  

8. It Takes Two: a musical Tribute to Tina Turner & Rod Stewart  | Feb. 25 

“It Takes Two” brings to the stage two of music’s most iconic figures, Sir Rod Stewart and Tina Turner in this high energy tribute production. No other tribute to these two legendary artists captures the images and voices in one big show  as well as done by Cookie Watkins and John Anthony.
