Remembrance Day Events 2023

Remembrance Day is a time for reflection and to honour the contributions of military personnel and those lost in service. Several services taking place in Edmonton and the surrounding area provide individuals with the opportunity to observe this crucial day. Lest we forget.

  1. No Stone Left Alone National Remembrance Event | November 2, 10:30, Online
    See the No Stone Left Alone program in practice during their national live stream – as students stand in the resting place of veterans and reflect on their personal connection to the concepts of service, sacrifice, remembrance, gratitude and citizenship.
  2. Edmonton Recital Society: In Remembrance | November 5, 7:30pm, Location: Holy Trinity Anglican Church
    Edmonton Recital Society is proud to be presenting their annual event, which offers audiences an afternoon of reflection. This event will feature Edmontonian mezzo-soprano, Lizzy Hoyt and pianist Lisa Rumpel. 
  3. Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Beverly Memorial Cenotaph  | November 11, 2023, 9:30,  Location: Beverly Memorial Cenotaph
    Beverly is home to the oldest Cenotaph in Alberta. Join this community for their annual memorial event, where there will be a procession from Maranatha Christian Reformed Church (11905 47 Street)  to the Cenotaph. The service will begin at the Cenotaph at 10:50 and will be joined by many members of military service and veterans.
  4. Leduc Remembrance Day Ceremony | November 11, 9:45, Location: Leduc Civic Centre
    The City of Leduc and the Leduc Legion Branch No. 108 will be marking November 11th with both an indoor and Cenotaph service. After these events, individuals are invited to visit the Legion Room for coffee. If you are unable to attend, the Legion will be live-streaming the service. The feed will be available here.
  5. Remembrance Day Service at City Hall | November 11, 10:30, Location: City Hall Plaza
    The City of Edmonton and the Loyal Edmonton Regiment will be hosting a Remembrance Day ceremony at City Hall to honour the achievements and sacrifices of those who served our country in times of war and peace. The service will be led by the Commanding Officer of the Loyal Edmonton Regiment.
  6. Remembrance Day Ceremony 2023 with Veterans for Freedom (West) | November 11 10:45, Violet King Henry Plaza – 99 Ave 108 St (Outdoors). Join Veterans For Freedom (West) to honour Canada’s fallen in a time-honoured traditional ceremony. There will be an opportunity for guests to place a poppy or other mementos of remembrance during the service.
  7. Remembrance Day Concert with First Presbyterian Choir and Schola Cantorum | November 11, 3:00, Location: First Presbyterian Church 10025 105 Street.
    Join First Presbyterian Church for a performance of Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful Requiem and a selection of additional choral and classical music performed by First Presbyterian Choir in honour and remembrance of members of military service and veterans. All proceeds benefit First Presbyterian Church’s Refugee Fund, which is currently supporting 39 refugees.
  8. The Jewish Federation of Edmonton’s Remembrance Day Service | November 12, 10:30, Location: Chevra Kadisha
    Chevra Kadisha will be holding its annual Remembrance Day service for the Edmonton Jewish community.
