Decades of Fair Trade

A volunteer-supported, not-for-profit social enterprise, Village Goods in Old Strathcona has been a beacon of ethical commerce since 1986. Formerly a part of Ten Thousand Villages Canada, Village Goods has since become an independent entity. With a deep commitment to fair trade and a mission to bring justice and hope to marginalized artisans around the world, Village Goods is more than just a store—it’s a force for positive change.

A visit is not just about acquiring beautiful products (although that’s always a nice bonus!); it’s an opportunity to learn about fair trade and appreciate the cultural heritage of artisans worldwide, from Argentina to Zimbabwe. The store encourages its customers to explore the stories behind the products, fostering a deeper connection between consumers and the communities they support. From handmade textiles to exquisite jewellery, each item reflects the dedication and creativity of the artists who created them.
