As gyms and fitness centres reopen throughout the summer, there’s a brand-new facility in town for Edmontonians to enjoy. Starting this Friday, June 25th, Movati Athletic Windermere has arrived to bring a world-class, top-of-the-line gym experience to Edmonton.
The Windermere club is Movati’s first location outside of Ontario. “Edmonton was in need of a service like this and I think we can provide it,” says Bobby Ryan, Movati Windermere’s general manager. The 70,000 square-foot space offers everything from cardio and weights to yoga and swimming, all to help Edmontonians reach their fitness and wellness goals.
The second floor is home to spacious cardio and strength training rooms, as well as two yoga rooms (one for hot yoga) and plenty of studio space for classes. Upcoming classes include everything from barre to kickboxing and, starting this fall, you can also sign up for anti-gravity yoga and bungee fitness classes too. It’s always a party in the cycling room, complete with multicoloured LED lighting, a disco ball, and all the feel-good workout jams you could ask for. Each piece of fitness equipment is chosen for being the best in its class, rather than all being from a single brand; no matter your workout routine, you’ll be getting the best bang for your buck. Grab a healthy, delicious protein shake from the cafe, made with an in-house protein blend, before or after your workout; with Express Pay, you can have your snack billed directly to your account.
On the ground floor, you’ll find the co-ed pool, which uses UV filtration to reduce chlorine usage while ensuring a safe and enjoyable swim. This is also where you’ll find one of Movati Windermere’s biggest features, its women’s-only gym space. This “gym within a gym” contains a separate change room, pool, fitness centre, and studio spaces, accessible right from the main entrance. Security doors with a buzzer to the front desk ensure safety and comfort at all times.
Every Movati membership includes a “game plan” session where a personal trainer will work with you to establish your fitness goals. Continued personal training, either one-on-one or in a small group, is also available for an extra fee. Movati also offers child care while you work out; the Children’s Playroom contains everything from crafts to an indoor playground, all with supervision from trained staff.
With current restrictions, Movati is set to open at 30% capacity, with 3-metre social distancing in place. The club is beginning with 100 fitness classes offered per week, with plans to increase this number to over 150 over the next few months. With its extensive amenities, luxe atmosphere, and friendly community, Movati promises to make getting fit more fun than ever.
