Family Day weekend is almost here! Spend some quality time with your loved ones at one of these Edmonton events.

Art Gallery of Alberta

The AGA is offering free admission for Family Day! Visitors can enjoy access to all galleries, including 5 Artists 1Love, and newly opened exhibitions Tom Thomson: North Star and Braxton Garneau: Pay Dirt. You can also join them for a performance in their Main Hall from 1 to 2 pm by Hula Hoop Circus, as part of the Arts District’s Family Day Extravaganza!

Telus World of Science  Edmonton 

Telus World of Science Edmonton is having a family day extravaganza starting on February 17 and going through to February 19. Enjoy fun activities such as their Mazes and Brain Games Exhibit and their science demonstrations as well as a pj movie night. This weekend of fun at TWOSE is great for the whole family!

The Royal Alberta Museum

Enjoy the largest museum in Western Canada for free! With over five million objects in their collection, The Royal Alberta Museum is a great place to learn more about all the things that make Alberta special. Make sure to visit the Tinker Garage, a hands-on family space filled with supplies to make your own creation!

Library Lunchtime Concert 

Head down to the Stanley A. Milner Library for a special Family Day concert! Anita Walsh, Violin and Meran Currie-Roberts, cello will explore works by Beethoven, Glière, and some familiar favourites. This concert is fully accessible and is family friendly. Edmonton Public Library locations across the city will also be hosting several other Family Day activities including story-times and puppet shows! Check out their website for more details.

Family Fun Days at Wem

West Edmonton Mall will be filled with several free kid-friendly activities all weekend long! Enjoy balloon artists, face painting, and caricature artists. Full schedule here.

Winspear Centre 

Celebrate Family Day at the Winspear and learn about the extraordinary life and musical masterpieces of one of the greatest American composers of all time. Gershwin’s Magic Key is a theatrical symphony concert that will educate and entertain the whole family! Classical Kids Live! presents this theatrical production featuring your Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, with ESO Resident Conductor Cosette Justo Valdés at the podium.  On Saturday February 17.

Prehistoric Paradise Family Day at Muttart Conservatory

Head back into time at this Prehistoric Paradise Family Day event at the Muttart Conservatory! You will find dinosaurs, reptiles and large insects throughout the pyramids for their current ‘Giants in the Mist’ show. There will be activities for all ages such as airbrush tattoos, a magician that will be roving through the mist, dino-mite crafts and sensory play, finding dinosaurs and fossils through a scavenger hunt and more. This event is sure to make you roar!

Family day open house at Rutherford House

Step inside the home of Alberta’s first Premier this weekend. Rutherford House is offering free admission to this unique historical site. Enjoy a guided tour to learn all about the vibrant personalities of the family that lived inside this house. You’ll also be able to sample a treat made in their historic kitchen and make a family-themed craft.

Family Day at the Alberta Legislature

Experience free indoor fun when you celebrate Family Day at the Alberta Legislature, the place where it all began. Explore both of their engaging sites (the main Legislature Building and The Queen Elizabeth II Building) and enjoy family-friendly, all-ages entertainment!

Reynolds–Alberta Museum

Looking to escape the city for an afternoon? Take a trip to the Reynolds–Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin! Learn more about the rich history of agriculture, industry, and transportation at this award-winning museum. They are offering free admission for Family Day which includes access to the Main Gallery and Aviation Display Hangar!
