What began as a small local film screening in 2007 has expanded into an international showcase of diverse Muslim experiences and stories on screen. The Mosquers Film Festival attracts attendees and filmmakers from across the world, proudly sharing a selection of short films that portray Muslim subjects beyond stereotypes and misconceptions.

The one-day event features a red carpet gala, short film screening, and awards presentation. The short films selected will be vying for awards including Best Picture, Best in Technical Quality,  Best Performance, Best Local Picture, and the People’s Choice Award. New this year is the award for Best Quarantine Film, to be awarded to a production crafted under the confines of COVID-19 restrictions. The evening will also include host and stand-up comedian Ismael Loutfi, pop duo Fajjr + Ali, hip-hop artist Kayem, calligraphy and light artist Karim Jabbari, and more.

Following the festival is POPCORN, the exclusive after-party featuring mocktails, visual art, special performances, and the chance to mingle with featured artists and performers. Tickets for POPCORN are separate from festival tickets; limited quantities are available.

The 2022 Mosquers Film festival will take place Friday, March 12 at the Winspear Centre. Doors open at 6 pm. Tickets, including student tickets and VIP passes, can be purchased online at themosquers.com.
