Live music is just one of many things available at the Cocktails & Jerk Festival this weekend!

It’s the Labour Day long weekend, the unofficial end of summer, but Edmonton’s going out with a bang! From free concerts and public art to barbecues and theatre, you’re sure to find something to fill these 3 days.

1) Symphony in the Square’s Disney in Concert | Sep 1–2
Join the Winspear Center for this FREE Disney concert series in Churchill Square, but make sure to arrive early to secure a good spot! Starting at 7 pm, the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra and guest vocalists sing through Disney’s famous catalogue. Food trucks will also be on site!

2) Cocktails & Jerk Festival | Sep 1–3
Get a taste of the Caribbean and “Jerk Culture” with live music, food, games, vendors, and fun galore! Skilled mixologists will also be on site to create delectable alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, like the Jungle Bird with rum, pineapple, mango, and guava.

3) 4th Annual Mural Massive | Sep 2
Not only is Mural Massive back with new murals, but they’re hosting a party about it! Come for live art, music, and comedy at Grindstone Theatre, then check their map to find the new public artworks.

4) Alberta Day at the Legislature | Sep 2
Festivities begin at 11 am, opening with a blessing by Elder Gilman Cardinal, followed by performances until 9 pm. Get a free tour of the Legislature Building, enjoy Indigenous themed activities and storytelling, shop incredible local artisans, chow down with a range of food trucks, and more.

5) Freewill Shakespeare Festival | till Sep 3
It’s the final weekend for this theatrical festival! Experience the magical and enchanting world of Shakespeare with live theatre renditions of Romeo & Juliet (tragedy) and Twelfth Night (comedy) in the new Cristal Palace Spiegletent outside the Edmonton EXPO Centre.

6) Reynold Museum Fall Harvest Festival | Sep 3 & 4
Fun for the whole family, this festival showcases the wheat crop being harvested using both steam- and gasoline-powered machines, as well as a petting zoo, carnival rides, dancing, bread baking, and more.

7) 32nd Annual EDLC Labour Day BBQ | Sep 4
Head to Clarke Stadium (11000 Stadium Rd.) for this FREE BBQ, with hamburgers, hot dogs, taber corn, and frozen treats! Also on-site will be a bouncy castle, the Edmonton Elks Promotional Squad, and live music.
