Don’t miss the one and only NASCAR race in Alberta!

To wrap up the last weekend in July, we’ve got old music, new music, fast horses, fast cars, and one very progressive art installation.

1. Ring of Fire | July 20–Aug 11
“Walk the Line” all the way to the Citadel Theatre to see the Man in Black’s greatest hits sung and danced across a stage in this performance-packed musical. With two hours of over two dozen songs there’s no way you’ll have the “Folsom Prison Blues” at this event.

2. Backstreet Boys | July 25
Get ready to get down, get down with the ever-popular 90s boy-band (or do we call them a man-band now?). The Backstreet Boys are performing at Rogers Place this weekend, and we want it that way.

3. Interstellar Rodeo | July 26–28
Returning for its 4th year in Hawrelak Park, the Interstellar Rodeo has another “stellar” lineup of artists such as Nathaniel Rateliff, the Night Sweats, Maddie Storvold, and many more. Weekend and single day passes are available.

4. Witch Bitch Switch | July 26–Sept 7
This weekend is the opening show of the art installation Witch Bitch Switch by Calgary-based artist Dana Buzzee. Through a sculpture-based approach, Buzzee explores queer identity with witchcraft—as both a practice and metaphorical framework—and BDSM practices, in the forms of cuffs, restraints, and harnesses to form a liberating ritual of defiance against erasure and silence. The exhibit will be held on the 3rd floor of Harcourt House (10215-112 St.).

5. NASCAR Luxxur 300 | July 27
Start your engines and head on over to the Edmonton International Raceway to see the one and only NASCAR race in Alberta. Watch drivers like Alex Tagliani, D.J. Kennington, and Andrew Ranger as they race for total glory. General admission, family passes, grandstand reserved seats, and VIP reserved seats are available.

6. Century Mile Racetrack and Casino | July 27–28
Watch real horsepower in action as Thoroughbreds thunder down Alberta’s only mile-long grade ‘A’ race track. You can also grab a drink, a bite, and try your luck at the various slot machines, VLTs, and electronic horse racing, too.

In case you haven’t gone yet, this is also the last weekend to check out Taste of Edmonton and K-Days!
