There are still plenty of ways to enjoy a safe, memorable, productive weekend! Whether you’re treating yourself to a date night in or expanding your horizons, Edmonton offers lots to do from the comfort of your own home.

Stream Citadel plays from home, along with plenty of other fun virtual activities this weekend!

1) Stream a play from Citadel Theatre
Bring some of Edmonton’s best theatre home to you! Citadel Theatre is now offering plays from its 2021/2022 season to stream on-demand, including The Garneau BlockHeaven, and more! Purchasing a streaming pass gives you access to the show for 48 hours.

2) Step into the past with ECAMP
Edmonton City as Museum Project, or ECAMP, offers a wealth of resources about the history of Edmonton, from articles to podcasts to virtual exhibits. Discover stories of Chinese market gardens along the North Saskatchewan River, or explore the struggles and triumphs of Alberta’s Black communities from the late 1800s to the 1970s. From the arts to politics to social justice, head into the new year seeing the past in a whole new light.

3) Take a Get Cooking Class
Pick up a delicious new skill for the New Year! Get Cooking features an extensive array of live and pre-recorded virtual cooking classes; their classes cover a huge range of cuisines and cooking concepts for every taste. Upcoming classes include Spaghetti al Limone, Argentinian Beef Empanadas, and homemade mozzarella.

4) Learn Cree from Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society and the University of Alberta
Is your New Year’s resolution to learn a new language? Here’s your start! Learn the basic characters and syllabics of the Cree language, and then learn the words for numbers, animals, colours, and more. These resources are completely free and include links to interactive tools to help you master the content.
