Callingwood Farmers’ Market | opening May 7
Farmers’ market season is finally here! Check out Edmonton largest outdoor market this weekend to explore over 200 vendors. And, in honour of opening weekend, the first 100 people will get a market bag, homemade fudge, and $5 to be redeemed at one of the Market’s vendors. There will also be kid-friendly activities including face painting, flower planting, and free cookies!
Gathering Threads Festival | May 5–7
Calling all fibre arts lovers! Gathering Threads Festival is on this weekend at the Edmonton EXPO Centre! Formerly the Edmonton Fibre Frolic, this festival is excited to connect crafters with workshops, premium materials, and a celebration of all things creative! Friday night’s schedule includes a fashion show featuring designers from around the world. Plus, craft together in the Family Zone, explore curated pieces in the themed art gallery, or participate in craft workshops with talented instructors.

Northwestfest & Rainbow visions | May 4–14
Your two favourite film festivals are teaming up for 10 days of top-notch cinema at Metro Cinema! Enjoy educational documentaries as a part of Northwestfest, Canada’s longest running non-fiction film festival. Featured films include Black Barbie and The Lebanese Burger Mafia (which is directed by Edmonton’s own Omar Mouallem!).
Art of the Brick Opening Weekend | Opens May 5
Get ready to explore the world’s most popular display of LEGO art! Originally a lawyer, artist Nathan Sawaya decided to channel his love of art into an unconventional medium. Promoting accessibility and playfulness, The Art of the Brick is features several breathtaking works of art, including recreations of famous paintings, a 20-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton, and a series of collaborative photographs. Head down to TELUS World of Science to check out this new exhibition and participate in special opening weekend activities.
First Métis Man of Odesa | April 22–May 13
