Welcome to Edmonton! Whether you’re here for the first time or you’ve lived here your whole life, your school days are a great time to expand your horizons and discover our amazing city. Just remember to find some time to study in between all the adventures you’re having!

1) Try some diverse dining… and some donairs
Edmonton is a city that prides itself on its diversity, including in its food scene! There’s a new taste experience to try around every corner, from classic Canadian fare to Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Mexican, and everything in between. And, of course, it’s not an Edmonton experience without trying a classic Edmonton donair! With tons of options (including gluten-free and vegetarian), you can’t miss out on YEG’s favourite lunch.

2) Take in some—or a lot—of local theatre
Edmonton’s theatre scene is always hopping. Want a Broadway show? Underground, independent theatre? Improv? Circus shows? We’ve got it all. Several theatres have season passes available so you can see more shows for a more budget-friendly price. Plus, you can get your theatre fix with Edmonton’s many theatre festivals throughout the year, including the Freewill Shakespeare Festival and Fringe Festival—the largest Fringe Fest in North America.

3) Attend a festival!
We’re not called Festival City for nothing! Edmonton and the surrounding region host dozens upon dozens of festivals every year. Food, art, pop culture, music, world cultures, cats… you name it, chances are there’s a festival celebrating it. Many of these festivals are free to attend! Be sure to check our festival calendar to see what fun events are coming up.

4) Explore the River Valley
At over 18,000 acres, Edmonton’s River Valley is North America’s largest urban parkland, carving its way through the centre of Edmonton. Whether you’re walking the trails (try a walking tour app to add some learning to the experience) or kayaking the river, it’s a great place to take a well-deserved study break or self-care day. With so many parks and trails and nearby attractions, you won’t get bored of visiting!

5) Stay in the loop!
No matter what you’re interested in, we’ve got you covered. InfoEdmonton is always bringing you news and updates on the hottest events, dining, shopping, and attractions in Edmonton, both here on our website and through our FREE print and digital magazines. Consider us your YEG study buddy, helping you navigate the best of the city for the most awesome experience possible.
