Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s
An evening in the hands of Teatro Live’s talented cast and crew is always a delight and their latest show, Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s, is no exception!
Set in the alluring world of the 1960’s supper club, this swingin’ musical comedy follows Mitzi Dupar, a singer, club owner, and all-around diva, as she navigates the trials of love and the tribulations of owning a business. Andrea House absolutely sparkles as Mitzi, who is perpetually clad in colourful kaftans and brings an absolutely hilarious physicality to every single scene. Whether she’s wowing the audience with a soulful solo or taking the helm of a rousing group number, House’s Mitzi is brimming with charisma. With an owner like her at the centre, it’s no wonder why EVERYBODY goes to Mitzi’s!
An enchanting cast of characters supports Mitzi as she tries to bring more business into her club, including her immaculately organized floor manager ‘Numbers’ (Bella King), lounge singer and boyfriend Jack Hayden (Mark Sinogco), sly bartender Mitch Dinsley (Josh Travnik), and new hire Tippi Lala (Chariz Faulmino). From stunning vocals to bubbly energy, each actor brings something special to stage!
Behind the scenes, the creative team of Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s is also packed with Edmonton talent. Thanks to a stunning story (co-written by Jocelyn Ahlf and Andrew MacDonald-Smith) and a couple catchy tunes (with lyrics by Farren Timoteo and music by Ryan Sigurdson), this show brings all the joy of a Broadway musical to a more recognizable setting. Plus, with a couple nods to notable Edmonton figures, businesses, and historical moments, Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s feel like a love letter to our city’s history, which makes this musical an extra special experience.
Don’t miss this amazing show! Everybody Goes to Mitzi’s is on at the Varscona Theatre until July 30th. Get your tickets here.
